The rule behind the rules
Ask first. Then ask again.
Nearly every rule below is the same rule in a different coat: check before you do anything, and take the answer at face value. A touch, a photo, a suggestion of more — all of it is a question, not a given.
Get comfortable asking and you'll never put a foot wrong. Assume, and you'll be the member nobody invites back.
The unwritten rules, written down
What everyone already expects.
A couple is a package
Talk to both halves, not just the one you fancy. Nothing happens with one partner that the other hasn't signed off on.
No is a full sentence
It needs no reason and earns no sulk. A graceful "no problem" is what marks you out as safe to be around.
What happens here, stays here
No names, no photos, no gossip outside the room. Discretion runs both ways, every time.
Turn up fresh
Showered, groomed, easy on the aftershave, and protection sorted before you arrive. Basic, and it matters more than anything you'll say.
Read the room
Match the energy you walk into. Watch, chat, and let things build — the pushiest person in any room is the least wanted.
Drink like you mean to remember
A little loosens the night; a lot wrecks it. Nobody can truly consent when they're gone, and everyone can tell.
In the moment
When it actually happens.
Go at the slowest pace
The group moves at the speed of whoever's least sure, not whoever's keenest. Check in out loud — it's a turn‑on, not a mood‑killer.
Stop on a dime
Anyone can pause or end anything at any point, no questions. The right response is always "of course".
Leave it kind
A thank‑you, a soft landing, a message the next day. How a night ends is what decides whether there's a next one.
